The Strike is a feature documentary that tells the story of a generation of California men who survived decades of solitary confinement and, against all odds, launched the largest hunger strike in U.S. history. It has been reviewed by The New York Times, LA Times, NPR, and others. The film is now streaming and broadcasting on Independent Lens (PBS) and on tour nationwide.

A feature documentary directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite and based on a reporter’s investigation into the powers securing earth’s dwindling resources. 2025 Emmy-winner for “Outstanding Research in Documentary.” Premiered at TIFF and released on Hulu.
